Realizing there is power in friendship (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) we as a body of believers seek friendship with God by connecting people to God through relevant worship and practical biblical teaching, and we seek friendship with others by connecting people to people through biblical community for the purpose of ministry, fellowship, and encouragement.

Dr. Jim Waters, Pastor/Equipper

Jim is married to Rhonda Waters; they have two sons, Devon and Nate.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Florida in 1994, M.S. of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002, and Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009.  Jim has been in ministry more than 20 years. His hobbies include sports, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Jim has two favorite Bible verses that constantly remind him to keep looking to the glory of God. He believes it is easy to rest on past successes or stay trapped in past failures.  Jim’s prayer is that he would continually seek a fresh relationship and movement of God’s Spirit at Friendship.

Nathan Willett, Worship Leader

Nathan and Chera married in December of 1997 and have two daughters, Ellys and Karli.  Nathan made a profession of faith and followed in baptism on January 6, 1985.
Nathan and Chera have served faithfully in worship leadership roles for the last 14 years.  Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, college football (Go Gators!), an occasional round of golf, playing the guitar, hunting, and fishing.
His favorite verse is Acts 4:12: ” Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind in which you must be saved.”
Nathan and Chera share a love for music and working with youth, but more importantly, just sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone!



Brian Riley, Youth Leader
Sharmonie Riley, Administrative Assistant
Brian is married to Sharmonie and has two children, Anthony and Sean.  He enjoys sports, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.  His passion is working with kids of all ages but especially youth.  “Let us not give up doing good, for at the proper time, you will reap a harvest, if you do not give up” Galatians 6:9.  He uses this verse on a daily basis to realize that all things are in God’s timing.  He prays every day that God can use him for His glory.
Sharmonie’s life verse is Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Sharmonie enjoys using the gifts God has given her to bless and serve others!



Barbara Vunkannon, Financial Secretary

Barbara was born on April 13, 1933,  Her husband, Bill, is deceased.  Her children are Ron, Chris, Vicki, Lee, and Sue.  After high school, Barbara attended college to study business.  She has been involved in ministry for nearly three decades.  Barbara loves to stay busy with projects and helping others.  She feels that her life is an open book; what you see is what you get!  Barbara’s favorite Bible verse is Matthew 28:19b, ” Jesus said, ‘And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.'”  Barbara has felt God’ presence in her life through the death of her husband, parents, sister, and brother, as well as when she had surgery two times for cancer.  Barbara identifies with the fact that God did not promise that we would never have trouble or trials, but He did promise to be with us through it all.
